Webinar: Making Babies Count

When the Sheppard-Towner Act passed in 1921, it helped lay the foundation for maternal and child health policies that continue to influence American families today. Its story offers lessons of hope for policymakers navigating similar challenges a century later. In this webinar, author Dr. Michelle Bezark (EC*REACH) shares her new book, Making Babies Count, which chronicles the rise and fall of Sheppard-Towner. Michelle is joined by Dr. Joan Lombardi (Stanford University) and Andrea Palmer (Pritzker Children’s Initiative) to discuss the act’s legacy, what we can learn from its successes and setbacks, and how its story can influence maternal and child health policy today.
